I started on this genealogy adventure, oh, probably 10 years or so ago, but really attacked the project within the last year with the arrival of this new fangled contraption, the computer. Fortunately I have children to turn to in times of CYBER BLACKOUT. But it's not a one track family. We do get out of the cave periodically for birdwatching, playing and watching athletics, GO POINTERS! GO PANTHERS! GO BADGERS! and of course once a year, every year there is 54 hours of the world's largest Trivia contest. As a real occupation I run the Central Duplicating operation for the Stevens Point School district, 10 grade schools, two Junior Highs and the largest high school in the state!! I'm also the media technology director for the SPASH football team and the Public address announcer for the UW-Stevens Point Pointer Women's Basketball team. And, of course, I'm always busy writing. I do freelance writing, mostly sports, for the Stevens Point Daily Journal. Covering local sports is a passion for me and if a paper came along looking for a full time sports guy I would probably drop the school district in a minute!! Golf and Skiing are the two big seasonal sports. So there will be a little of each of these included along the way but on to the main purpose we are here, The ancestors of CAMERON AND ANDY WHITMIRE. We'll be following the family tree branches of GEORGE FREDERICK WHITMIRE for whom the city of Whitmire, South Carolina is named. Also the Branches of ADOLPHUS AUGUSTUS HOCH(Butler county, Pennsylvania); JACOB MICHAEL STAPISH(Washtenaw county, Michigan/Alsace-Lorraine region of France); The STAFFANS and DANCERS(Washtenaw County, Michigan)and WOOD(Ontario County, New York).
